On Tuesday, June 3 2008 United Way staff Christie Getto Young and Tulaine Shabazz Marshall officially launched the second phase of SkillWorks at a National Fund for Workforce Solutions Peer Learning event. SkillWorks is a public/private partnership of philanthropy, government, community organizations, unions, and employers to create a workforce development system that:
- Helps low-skill, low-income residents move to family-sustaining jobs; and
- Helps employers find and retain skilled employees.
