Who's Who in the Campaign Cabinet

Scott Powers, 2011 Campaign Cabinet Chair

Scott Powers is president and chief executive officer of State Street Global Advisors (SSgA), the investment management arm of State Street Corporation and one of the largest institutional asset managers in the world. Mr. Powers is also a member of State Street's Management Committee, the company's senior-most strategy and policy-making team.

Prior to joining State Street in May 2008, Mr. Powers served as chief executive officer of Old Mutual US, the US operating unit of London-based Old Mutual PLC. During his seven-year tenure at Old Mutual, he was one of six senior executives overseeing the worldwide operations and was also a member of Old Mutual's executive committee, where he was actively involved in the development and execution on overall business strategy.

Previously, Mr. Powers held senior management positions at Mellon Institutional Asset Management and The Boston Company Asset Management. While at The Boston Company Asset Management, he served as chief operating officer and head of marketing and client services. Mr. Powers began his career as a financial services advisor with Dean Witter Reynolds.

Mr. Powers has a bachelor's degree in economics from Harvard College. Additionally, he is an Incorporator of Cardigan Mountain School.

Polly B. Bryson, Past Campaign Cabinet Chair

Polly Bryson started her career in commercial real estate in 1981 at Spaulding & Slye (now Jones Lang LaSalle). During her tenure as a commercial real estate broker, she negotiated more than 250 lease transactions, which resulted in the leasing of more than 3 million square feet of office space in Boston, Cambridge and the suburbs.  Ms. Bryson became a Principal of Spaulding & Slye in 1991, and held several leadership positions at the firm, including New England Brokerage Manager, Director of Marketing and Research, New England Regional Manager, and President of the New England Region. In 2003, Ms. Bryson joined Terra Nova Partners, a commercial real estate investment company, as a Principal.   

Throughout her career, Ms. Bryson has also been passionately involved in the fundraising for and leadership of several community service, educational and professional organizations.  These groups include the Boston Harbor Island Alliance, Friends of the Longfellow House, New England Women in Real Estate, The Cambridge Homes, The Park School, United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley and Wheaton College.

Ms. Bryson received a B.A., magna cum laude, from Wheaton College, Norton, MA.

Peter Biagetti

Peter Biagetti is a Member at Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky, and Popeo, P.C. A trial and appellate lawyer in the Boston office, Peter concentrates on the prosecution, defense and appeal of cases involving unfair business practices, trade secret theft, breach of duty by business owners and officers, and business fraud. He just completed a term as co-chair of the Business Litigation Committee of The Boston Bar Association, and currently serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Civil RICO Report. In 2004, Peter was recognized as one of the top 100 Super Lawyers in Massachusetts, and has been named a Massachusetts Super Lawyer each year since. Peter has served as one of the firm's Managing Directors, and as a member of its Policy Committee. He has chaired, and continues to serve as a member of, the Board of Directors of the Kenneth B. Schwartz Center, a national grantmaking organization dedicated to strengthening the relationship between patients and caregivers.

Mark Culliton

Mark Culliton is the CEO of Federated Dorchester Neighborhood Houses, Inc. Culliton has worked throughout his career in low-income urban communities. Most recently, he was the Vice President for Business Development at Lighthouse Academies (LHA). In this role, he was responsible for developing new charter schools and helped LHA grow from one school serving 120 students into a network of arts-infused schools that serve more than 2,300 students on nine campuses.

Prior to joining Lighthouse Academies, Culliton served as the chief operating officer of B.E.L.L., a nonprofit organization providing after-school and summer enrichment programs to 1,500 children in elementary schools in Boston, New York City, and Washington, D.C. After obtaining his M.B.A. in the mid-1990s, Culliton served for four years as the executive director of Upham's Corner Main Street.

Culliton, who is multilingual, spent several years in India as a child and as served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Thailand for three years. He currently is chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Boston Preparatory Charter School.

Timothy J. Connelly

Timothy J. Connelly is a Partner of Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. currently responsible for BBH's Innovation and Product Support Division which is focused on servicing a global customer base. In this capacity, he is responsible for the Firm's Client Facing Technology, BBH's Infomediary Product Suite, New Product Development, Global Tax Service, BBH's Network of Subcustodial Banks, New Business Implementation, Corporate Enterprise Services, Billing and while also chairing the Firm's Productivity, Innovation and Outsourcing disciplines. Prior to taking on these roles, Mr. Connelly directed BBH's Investor Services business in the Americas responsible for all activities as they relate to U.S. mutual fund complexes and/or sophisticated financial institutions throughout the region. Mr. Connelly is a 26-year veteran of BBH and held portfolio management and business management roles in the Firm's Investment Management Division prior to his involvement with the Firm's Investor Services business. Mr. Connelly is a graduate of Williams College, received his M.B.A. from Northeastern University and holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Jed Hall

Jed Hall is the Managing Director, Head of Boston Banking. Mr. Hall has been actively involved in the firm’s Banking sector since joining BBH in 1993.  He assumed responsibility for the Boston Banking Department in 2009 after having run the Medical Technology Group.  Prior to joining BBH, Mr. Hall was employed by The Bank of New York for ten years as a corporate banker.  Mr. Hall graduated from Colgate University and received an MBA from Columbia Business School.  Mr. Hall serves as Treasurer on the Executive Committee of Mass MEDIC and has recently joined the Campaign Cabinet of United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley.

Susan M. Esper, Past Campaign Cabinet Co-Chair

Susan is a Partner with over 17 years of public accounting experience and leads the Financial Services industry group in Deloitte's New England practice. This industry group comprises professionals whose in-depth knowledge and experience help clients in the Banking & Securities, Insurance, Private Equity, Hedge Funds & Mutual Funds and Real Estate sectors. Susan has specialized in the financial services industry throughout most of her career, with primary focus on investment management clients. Susan currently serves as an Audit Partner on a number of Deloitte's largest investment management accounts with responsibility for oversight of client service coordination and delivery. In this role, she is responsible for the planning and execution of the mutual fund audit process, as well as all related internal control engagements and compliance with industry regulation.  In addition to her client service responsibilities, Susan is the leader for Deloitte's Women's Initiative Network ("WIN") in the New England practice. Established in 1993, this national initiative focuses on the development of its talented women professionals and identifies opportunities for them as future leaders within the Firm. The Initiative supports the Firm in its goal to train, develop and mentor professionals at all levels, regardless of gender, and create an environment where career success can be achieved.

Terry Metzger

Terry is the President and CEO of Boston Financial Data Services. Terry has over 30 years of financial services experience in key leadership roles at Boston Financial Data Services - a leading provider of outsourcing solutions for asset management firms and DST Systems - the world's largest provider of shareholder recordkeeping systems. A born and bred Missourian Terry spent over 24 years at DST Systems, located in Kansas City, during a period of explosive growth in the mutual fund industry and DST's client base.

In 2004, Terry, his wife Seanna and their children took a leap of faith and relocated from Missouri to Massachusetts and Terry joined Boston Financial as chief operating officer. Terry assumed the role of President and CEO in 2009 and during his tenure at Boston Financial has also seen the organization through significant growth, servicing almost 100 asset management firms, and continuous transformation.

Boston Financial is a long-term supporter of the United Way. Terry looks forward to continuing our commitment to the United Way by providing leadership support to the 2011 Campaign Cabinet for United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley.

Mim Minichiello

Ms. Minichiello is a health insurance executive with a demonstrated track record of success in developing and implementing sales and service strategies. As Vice President, Sales and Client Services for Tufts Health Plan she was responsible for overseeing sales and client retention in all industries and market segments in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Ms. Minichiello joined Tufts Health Plan in 1990 and served as a director in several capacities. She also spent three years as Director of Client Services and Implementation at Private Health Care Systems in Waltham, MA.

She is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy. She also received a graduate certificate in management from Radcliffe College. In addition, Ms. Minichiello completed AHIP's Executive Leadership program and attained the Certified Health Insurance Executive designation. She is a member of New England Employee Benefits Council, Society for Human Resources, and The Commonwealth Institute. She is also actively involved with the YWCA of Boston.

Laura Onessimo

Laura Onessimo is the Vice President of Business Development for Skanska USA Building Inc., primarily responsible for promoting the firm's construction management services for the New England region. Affiliated with Skanska for over 12 years, Laura’s role encompasses the overall management of the business development, marketing and public relations functions of the Boston office of Skanska. Prior to her engagement with Skanska, she was responsible for the marketing efforts at Anderson-Nichols, a multidisciplinary architectural and engineering firm. Her philanthropic activities include involvement with such organizations as Rebuilding Together, Rosie’s Place and Building Impact.  She resides in Milton with her husband, Edward and their daughter, Gabrielle.

Janet Porter

Janet E. Porter, PhD, joined Dana-Farber as its executive vice president and chief operating officer in January 2006. In this role, she oversees the daily operations of Dana-Farber and works closely with its collaborating hospitals to help manage administration of the Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center and Dana-Farber/Children's Hospital Cancer Care.

Prior to joining Dana-Farber, Dr. Porter served for nine years as the chief operating officer of Nationwide Children's Hospital and as the executive director of the Nationwide Children's Hospital Research Foundation. Most recently, she was the associate dean for executive education at the University of North Carolina's School of Public Health.

Dr. Porter received her bachelor's and master's of health administration degrees from Ohio State University and her MBA and doctorate in healthcare strategy degrees from University of Minnesota.

Kim Reinert

Kim Reinert, a Boston-based partner, leads Ernst & Young's Northeast Venture Capital Advisory Group. Kim has more than 14 years of experience working with both public and private companies, with a focus on early-stage and middle-market high technology firms. She advises clients on growth strategy and planning, particularly in the areas of revenue recognition, equity and compensation and business combinations. Kim also has extensive experience helping clients prepare for and carry out initial public offerings and meet other filing obligations required by the Securities and Exchange Commission. She is a graduate of Boston College with a bachelor's degree in accounting, a CPA in Massachusetts and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
