School Readiness Pipeline Coordinator - Thrive in 506/13/13

Thrive in 5, is a public-private partnership between the City of Boston and United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley dedicated to increasing school readiness for Boston’s children ages 0-5. The current citywide school readiness strategies of Thrive in 5 include:

• Boston Children Thrive (BCT) – Thrive in 5’s signature place-based initiative currently in five neighborhoods (Allston/Brighton, Dudley, East Boston, Fields Corner and the South End/Lower Roxbury) that engages and empowers parents and builds community capacity to create and sustain the neighborhood conditions necessary for children to enter kindergarten ready for success in school and in life;

• Ready Educators – Efforts within Boston’s formal early education and care community to help providers/programs move into and up the MA Department of Early Education and Care’s (MA EEC) Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS), to support professional development opportunities for early education teachers and providers, and to expand the Boston Public Schools’ community-based K1 classrooms; and

• School Readiness Pipeline – A universal child development screening initiative that will provide a citywide picture of young children’s development and school readiness at ages 2 and 4 and upon kindergarten entry.

Thrive in 5 is seeking to hire a School Readiness Pipeline Coordinator to coordinate the pilot phase of the School Readiness Pipeline strategy. In this role, the School Readiness Pipeline Coordinator will provide supervision, training and on-going technical assistance to 11 Parent Screeners in addition to general project coordination.  read more »

Volunteer Engagement Manager05/29/13

AmeriCorps Volunteer Engagement VISTA05/03/13

General Description: This full time AmeriCorps VISTA member will work alongside United Way of the Greater Seacoast staff on solutions to issues relating to Family Financial Stability, Healthy Child Development and Organizational Capacity Building. The VISTA will work primarily on recruiting & engaging community volunteers to help families increase their financial stability, to help children enter kindergarten ready to succeed, and to assist local partner nonprofits in realizing operating efficiencies. VISTA members receive a weekly stipend, an education grant at the end of their service year, and other benefits.  read more »
