Living the Dream

The State of the American Dream
Did you know that 22.8% of Boston's children live in a household with no working adult? Or, that income inequality grew more in Massachusetts over the last twenty years than in all but two states?
In 2006, to discuss the state of the American Dream in the Commonwealth, United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley, in partnership with Bank of America and Northeastern University, launched Living the Dream. This yearlong action-oriented series aimed to jump-start the dialogue, engage the citizenry and create a community blueprint that identifies the action steps and community groups needed to make social, economic and educational opportunities available to everyone in our community.
The formal Living the Dream discussions have ended, but a blue print is in the works and you can continue to participate in conversations about some of the area's most pressing social issues on our community blog, SpeakUnited.
