2009 – The Year of the Workplace Campaign
This year will be a year of unprecedented need. We will rely more heavily than ever before on the more than 1600 businesses in the 87 cities/towns that we serve in Greater Boston and the Merrimack Valley that run workplace campaigns for United Way.
Company workplace campaigns are most commonly held between early September and mid-December, when United Way conducts the majority of its fund-raising efforts. Last year alone, workplace campaigns helped raise more than $40 million to support United Way’s initiatives to end homelessness, help families earn self-sustaining wages, provide teens with positive options and ensure that all children start school ready to learn and succeed. These funds also supported critical, direct assistance to those facing hardship and crisis.
Workplace campaigns come in all different shapes and sizes. Most operate for one to two weeks, from very simple and straightforward, to engaging opportunities for internal team building through a number of organization-wide activities. A United Way representative is available, every step of the way, to help your company plan a successful and rewarding campaign.
Workplace campaigns are an excellent way for a company to participate in the Real Estate and Building Industry Breakfast. Companies who run workplace campaigns have their total credited toward the purchase of seats, a half table, or a full table depending upon the final amount raised through employing pledging and giving.
