Winter Warmer: A Benefit Concert for Mass Families in Need

01/12/2009

SOMERVILLE, MA - On Wednesday, January 14 at 8pm, more than a dozen local musicians will come together at Johnny D’s in Somerville to support Massachusetts families who have been affected by the economic recession. Winter Warmer, a musical fundraiser hosted by musician Alastair Moock will raise funds for United Way’s Community Support Fund, a joint effort by 18 United Ways from across Massachusetts to provide emergency assistance to families and individuals struggling to afford basic needs this winter. The show will feature an all-star cast of local roots, rock, and folk artists including:

  • Jennifer Kimball,
  • Mark Erelli,
  • Merrie Amsterburg,
  • Tim Gearan,
  • Meg Hutchinson,
  • Todd Thibaud,
  • Jimmy Ryan,
  • The Loomers,
  • Dinty Child and Jim Fitting,
  • with host Alastair Moock.

Community Support Fund is the first time that United Ways from across the state have joined together under a singular community-wide response. Because so many families and individuals will need help this winter, United Ways across the state have agreed to distribute 100
percent of the funds raised
to their local communities without overhead
costs.

The Johnny D's fundraiser was put together by Boston singer/songwriter Alastair Moock, with the support of the United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack
Valley and PARTNERS+simons. In November, PARTNERS+simons also created the print and television campaign for the Community Support Fund on a pro bono basis.

Johnny D's is located at 17 Holland St, Somerville, MA. Tickets are $20. For reservations and further info, contact the club at 617-776-2004 or visit www.johnnyds.com. For more info contact music@moock.com or Meghan Keaney at mkeaney@supportunitedway.org
