Stephen R. Karp
Stephen R. Karp is a leading developer of shopping centers and mixed-use developments. He first entered the shopping center business in the late 1960's with the development of one of the first enclosed malls in the Northeast in 1972. He went on to found New England Development in 1978. Mr. Karp is a member of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board and the Urban Land Institute.
He is a past chairman and member of the Board of Trustees of the International Council of Shopping Centers and is chairman of Children’s Hospital Boston. Mr. Karp is on the Board of Trustees of Belmont Hill School, on the Board of Overseers of Newton-Wellesley Hospital, and on the Board of Directors of Not Your Average Joe’s. He also has served on the Boards of Union College, SmartBargains.com, the New England Aquarium, and is past chairman of Children’s Hospital Trust.
