United Way of Mass. Bay grants 10K for summer jobs for Boston youth

BOSTON – In an effort to mitigate the City of Boston’s recent financial commitment to extend its summer jobs program from August 20 to September 6, United Way of Massachusetts Bay (UWMB) is today granting $10,000 to the City of Boston to help extend its summer jobs program for youth. Milton J. Little, Jr., president and chief executive officer of UWMB, announced the $10,000 grant to Boston business leaders at a breakfast hosted this morning by Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino at the Parkman House to welcome Milton J. Little, Jr. as the new leader of UWMB.  read more »

Local Sports Heroes Join United Way to Help Boston Kids Learn the Importance of Fitness and Nutrition

BOSTON -- United Way of Massachusetts Bay (UWMB) today hosted 200 Boston children for an Athletes Forum, a program featuring local athletes working directly with children from diverse neighborhoods to help them better understand the importance of staying fit and eating healthy. The Athletes Forum is part of a $1.6 million campaign launched by UWMB in February 2004 to promote nutrition and physical fitness resources for Boston-area children.  read more »
